From the very first notes of the "Rencontres du saxophone" , in 2003, we were convinced that they would go on. It was the vocation of this festival.
The "Rencontres" emerged from the friendship we all had for Guy Lafitte, who never forgot his hometown St Gaudens, and his native Comminges, all along his outstanding career as an international jazzman.
The tribute paid to Guy Lafitte by St Gaudens during the first two festivals in 2003 and 2004 was an encouragement for us to continue.
As he used to say : "First of all, jazz is the art to tell a story with your own accent".
Today the Festival has become grown up ,it is open to new artistic, musical prospects conveying the identity of the “Comminges” through a festival with an international impact.
